Spring Break - One Day Only

Well, we had a ton of soccer, I had to work so time away was cut short. Fossil Rim only allows weekend getaways right now, so Friday was our only option!



We were in hog heaven!


And this one was SO FRIENDLY!!








If only we could snuggle you!!

Then we checked in at the lodge and headed to the Wolf Cabin!!

It's so tiny and fun and awesome!


and he was jazzed!  Wanted to just "chill" and the wind was intense so we just hung out!


after unpacking we went out and explored a little

BRIGHT LIGHT!


We got smart and turned around


but then, it happened.  I showered with 1,000,000 ANTS.

The shower was covered so I called to get someone to come and clean up all of those I couldn't flush down the drain.

But then MORE came. AND MORE.  Then the other window.  EW.

Because they were flying!

Called again and couldn't get anyone. 

So we snuggled up to watch a movie.

Then... the ants... flying in.. on the walls, I was killing bugs more than watching a movie. I sent a snippy email about people NOT being available 24/7. Immediately got a call back and she came down to check.

After being completely grossed out... she insisted we move to the lodge. 

Can you say UPGRADE???

She mentioned WiFi and T was in!  She said KUERIG and I was in!!  So we packed up in the pitch black and moved!

We met the resident raccoon Fred on our way to the front door.

I told him he needed to get in the shower...

Once he was in he yelled "Hey Mom!  Just so you know.. I'm taking my shower. WITH NO ANTS"

Isn't he hilarious?  Punk!


We finished our movie, at popcorn, and snacks we brought, and then as I checked email, he made a tent and hid from the world. He was SO happy!




Someone was tired so I let him sleep in...




 I headed out my sliding door... only to find I had friends to drink my coffee with!!


Well, it was time to head down to the Pavillion for breakfast - we had a soccer game to fly to!

TRAFFIC JAM!!


We ordered and ate WAY TOO MUCH FOOD... but it was fun!


Then I had to get this Renegade on the road.

So, I never thought I'd say it... but thankful for the ants. Gave us a funny story and an upgrade!!

Goodbye to Uncle Johnny

A 6am call is never "normal" and I knew something was wrong. My poor mama had to call and tell me that her brother, the patriarch of our family... my Uncle John was dying. Brain bleed. 911. Ambulance. Hospital. Aunt Jeanne. Can't go visit. Covid. Ventilator. I heard all of those words. None of them were sinking in. Too surreal. He was fine. Too heartbreaking, my Aunt just lost her sister TOO OVERWHELMING. I CAN'T GO BE WITH MY FAMILY. Then the call came that he was off of life support, and he died. My Uncle John, big burly Uncle Johnny... was gone. My Aunt Jeanne posted on Facebook. So I posted... then Auntie T... And then mom posted... and our hearts broke.  Just broke.   Every time we talk  - we just can't make sense of it. I know in time.. it will sink in.  He will not be there at the airport when I get home next trip. He won't be at Christmas or at the table eating sauce.  He's gone. BUT I WILL REMEMBER. A shocking goodbye... Tracy Norris, there is no other like you

  Tracy is one of my favorite memories of my life in Charleston, my marriage to Rally, and my days learning how to be a woman. I learned how to pray, how to sing and how to be a woman of God. I learned how to be strong in my faith, and loving with my words. I learned how to act. I learned how to be a mom. They gave me a job and I learned all about helping people after disasters... I've always been told I always have a job at Disaster Plus.  I'm sure that's true. That's just who they are. I learned about Jesus.  She is probably the greatest factor in my early stages of my faith walk. Julia Ann, Keating, Tracy and Fred were always in my life.  Miles and miles away but there. Always. Until I opened Facebook to a photo Julia posted and I said "to of my faves"... only to scroll a few moments later and see that Tracy passed away. WHAT?  NO!?
