Guatemala here we come

Ronne gave a daily recap of our trip that I hope can comes across clear in my blog.

This loaded backwards and I'm too tired to fix it...

This is the other TCA team that was there. We had dinner with them...

Our knuckleheads

There was art EVERYWHERE... this was a wooden lion that was hand carved.

The city was absolutely stunning

This saint... I think it was Peter had real eyes that freaked me out

Paintings, sculptures, etc. and in American they would have been heavily guarded... here they were not because they RESPECT their history and culture.

We ate in this old covenant and this was a burial site that they had uncovered.  There were boned in that middle left section. It was SO cool! It had spots that reminded me of the scene from the sound of music when the nuns were hiding the Von Trapp family.

They are a Catholic nation and Mary, Jesus, the Saints were everywhere.  The restaurant was next too this area where candles are lit and services happen.  Simply stunning.  There were cities built on cities, it was crazy!

Where we ate...

I spied Jesus :)

and the last supper....

Each night we ended on the roof... just waiting for the smoke and clouds to clear to see a volcano

then back to our rooms

We were a little too spoiled for my tastes... BUT I had to let that go.

On our way to the hotel we stopped at Cerro De La Cruz

SO MANY PERRO... feral dogs (not pets).
I wasn't allowed to touch them and it was VERY hard for me!!!

You could see for miles and it was amazing

Someone needed his beauty sleep

And then we were locked and loaded!  Coffee in hand!

They were actually in good moods!!!

Day 1 was awesome!
