Worst Spring Break to date...
Erica, Trent, Griffin and I arrived Sat. The boys got their skis, we got groceries and on Sunday there were off!
Sunday night, we knew that Tristan, Jackson and the rest of the Rhodes family arrived safely after an 18 hour drive and we coming up to night ski. My idea to help them get skis earlier so they didn't miss out (it's only Sun and Thurs for them)
We spotted Andrew at the base of the mountain and then we found J & T.
I said a quick hi and off they all went.
I was about to walk to dinner when phones started blowing up.
Tristan is "bleeding internally and has a broken leg" My heart sank and my knees almost buckled.
"He's coming down with ski patrol"
I walked towards the mountain, Erica, Julie Wetzel and Molly were there too. We just started praying.
About 10 minutes later... the longest 10 minutes of my life... I look up after saying "amen" and I heard "Hi Mom"
He's walking... wait, what? He's smiling... how can this be?
We have to go in for an interview with ski patrol and the one guy was NOT nice.
My poor boy. My heart hurts. Interview after interview, he loses his pass for the mountain. A mess. Trip over 30 minutes after it started.
Jackson told me that he was completely out of it and started rolling down the hill. He grabbed him and just held him. Blood was everywhere, T was crying and Jackson just kept telling him it was ok. That kid is just the BEST friend in the world.
He doesn't remember the paramedics at all but remembers everything else. EMTs are called.
Because he doesn't remember impact, he is considered concussed. We drive him to ER or they take him. He was bummed but I didn't have an extra $500 so we drove.
This is what he looked like walking in.
He did a ton of tests, CT scans, concussion testing protocol and he passed everything. No broken bones or fractures. No surgeries, no headache and as you can see he's on his phone (which isn't allowed) but he was testing Iris, she was in Spain.
Poor thing... needed to get cleaned up. Holt was freaking out back in Dallas so Erica took those calls.
Next morning, this is what we had. Black eye coming and he had to keep his face out of the sun or that ski would have major melasma.
Zero symptoms and bruising better. We booked his flight home with us on Wed. Spring break was over before it started.
He didn't complain once. he was sad but he said "it is what it is". He hung out with the guys every night.. and then just slept during the day and was bored out of his mind.
He made lemonade out of lemons but I know he was sad.
I was shocked and sad. My bestie, Poolsie, sent me the most perfect card at the most perfect time.
we say the concussion specialist and he said there is no "mild, major, etc. concussions... your pregnant or your not"
This is day 2 after Arnica Montana pills. you can't tell me that stuff doesn't work.
God watched over him in the biggest way. I think he gets that on some level, I get it FULLY.
less than a week later, he got in his first car accident with Lowell. He just haaaad to hit an $80,000 car!!! Why she is letting him drive her $80K car is beyond me but she did. Regardless. It's been a very, VERY expensive week.
God gave me the biggest bonus I've ever received. It's not a ton but for ME it was,. I was so upset that I was LOSING money having to pay for all of this. Sadly, I wasn't using Kingdom eyes... God PROVIDED for me... He didn't take anything away!! I'm figuring it out Lord, I really am. Gosh, there is just so much to be done in my heart, and his. Thank you for Your patience Abba, and thank You for saving my son's life... TWICE.
