Time to Fly
Text strand between me and his tutor...
Hi Barbara, I just got off the phone with Mrs. Palmer. After a long talk with Tristan last night, he is begging me to give him a chance and not pull him from class. Mrs. Palmer and Mrs. Juhl spoke to Mrs. Patterson and they have all agreed that they are comfortable with giving him the chance to succeed. Due to our class being so small, Shanna can also spend extra time with him. They said we will watch him like a hawk and catch it early if we need to.
I know this means I may lose you as a teacher because you have to fill your slots and you have many students looking for your services. I just really feel like I need to give him a chance. If it goes downhill fast, I’ll reach out to you... and if you aren’t available, I’ll pray for another option. You can call me tonight if you want to discuss. I’ll be home after 7.

Actually I have thought about suggesting letting him try it without help. He has had all the graphemes (letters and letter groups). There are some roots we haven’t attacked but that part is more for vocabulary than reading. He hasn’t passed all the bench marks but that comes with time. Rest assured that I am not looking for more students so don’t give it another thought. I have been concerned about Tristan and his ability to maintain a good attitude. He was always respectful but not always happy. So wish him good luck and tell him that I am thrilled that he feels ready to be on his own. Keep me posted on how he is doing. I have loved working with him. He is very special. Part of the deal is to prepare students to fly so hopefully this is the right time. Do not hesitate to call me if it appears we need to jump back in. Let’s stay in touch. He gets his “specialness” from you. ️blessings. Barbara
