Oh what a weekend!!

I knew it was going to be a busy one...  and we didn't even make it to the first baseball practice!! and it was! Saturday morning Tristan had his ISEE test. He was miserable. It's our 4th year in a row and he is just done. I'm done, we're done/ He finally got out... said he blew it and I asked if he did his best. He said yes.  But he was confused.  I asked again... DID YOU DO YOUR BEST!?  He said yes.  And I told him "then, that's that.  We are done.  Whatever the Lord chooses for school ... He chooses." Then, we jumped in the car and headed to his basketball game.  We knew we'd only make the last quarter.  He jumped in, no warm-up - no nothing.  We were playing Everett's school and T was FIRED UP. He scored, then played excellent D.  We are down by 3... Tristan goes up for a 3-POINTER and BAM!  Makes it. EVERYONE loses it.  INSANE. In the last 2 seconds, the other school makes a basket and we lose by ...

Soccer tournament weekend...holy busy! Friday night game, Saturday basketball, soccer game, partial indoor game, soccer game to qualify (which we did that night) and Sunday soccer game. He was spent! He tried out and made the 8 week Steel team.  It's hard for him- new is not fun (I feel the same way) and it's hard to connect with people you barely know. But he did it.  I could see him struggle to FEEL part of the team, but he did it and I was SO proud! Yesterday we lost to the best team in the Classic Division ( a division above us), 4th in State (or something like that - they were good. They have their own bus!!!) new coach ... all the kids and parents And there are times when I see him grow before my eyes and I am SO THANKFUL I'm his mom.  And I see why my dad never missed a game... because he knew what I now know... it goes by SO fast. Soak up every second. Soon, it will be gone. And heading home to a day of video game...

The field trip I swore I wouldn't go on!

I got the call that they were down a driver... and could I drive? TO THE TEXAS CIVIL WAR MUSEUM? Ugh, help me, Jesus!  But, I went...  ...make the most of every opportunity I told myself. ... Go, you won't have many more of these opportunities... You might learn something!!  (which I did) My little confederate soldier! They had artifacts from all over, not just Texas they learned how to ready a weapon back in the day... and even tried on uniform replicas! (Hello Alladin and Indiana Jones) learned about the music of the day... learned about canons and weapons and clothing... pretty much everything! and yes, I did running around saying "we won, we won, WE WON! But the Yankees won!" they laughed... and I reminded them... it freed slaves!  And they started saying "YEAH!  The Yankees won!" And yes, I'm glad I went...
